If you’re somewhere around my age (34), chances are you spent part of your teenage years on your PS2 or Xbox playing the old NCAA Football game by EA Sports. Heck, even if you’re a few years younger, you did the same on the newer systems until the series ended with NCAA Football ’14.
On Wednesday, it was announced in separate NCAA press releases that the Division II's seven fall 2020 championships were canceled, and Division III was canceling fall sports championships for 2020.

With the news of the NCAA taking a step to relax some of its regulations Wednesday I think a lot of us who spent countless hours playing the video game started to wonder if it meant it may be finally coming back. Welcomehome.
Unfortunately, that seems like a hard no according to Dan Bernstein’s piece in The Sporting News:
Jim Cavale, the CEO of INFLCR, a company expected to help athletes easily find brand partnerships under new rules, said that while the working group’s recommendations to the board could be amended in the coming months, its current construction is clear about the future of college football video games. He has participated in conversations with NCAA, school and conference officials about the future of student-athlete sponsorships and is familiar with their thinking.
“Right now, group licensing is not a part of the plan,” Cavale told Sporting News. “That would prevent the video game concept from coming back.”
Well I guess that’s just about that. So long dreams of playing the new release of NCAA Football anytime soon. I guess that leaves me having to go plug in the ’13 version of the game since I lost my copy of ’14 during my last move.
Speaking of — if anyone has a copy for PS3 they never use anymore I know a place that would give it a very happy home.
