  • Product ID: 9055
  • EmbedXcode+. 18 Mar 2020 release 11.7.2. Added debugging for Seeed Xiao board The Seeeduino Xiao M0 is a very compact board based on the popular Cortex-M0 SAMD21. The embedXcode+ edition leverages the exposed SWD pads for debugging with a Segger J-Link probe.
  • Click the big button that says “Download UF2 now” and you will get a small file. Plug in your Seeeduino Xiao. You’ll need a male USB-C cable. Enable bootloader mode. This is a bit of a pain in the butt as it involves shorting a couple of tiny pads next to the USB-C port twice in quick succession, but gets easier once you’re used to it.

Description

Take a look at Seeeduino XIAO. What a small size and cute looking! It is the smallest member of the Seeeduino family. Seeeduino XIAO still carries the powerful CPU-ARM® Cortex®-M0+(SAMD21G18) which is a low-power Arduino microcontroller. On the other hand, this little board has good performance in processing but needs less power. As a matter of fact, it is designed in a tiny size and can be used for Arduino wearable devices and small projects.

Apart from the strong CPU, Seeeduino XIAO is excellent in many other functions. It has 14 GPIO PINs, which can be used for 11 analog PINs, 11 digital PINs, 1 I2C interface, 1 UART interface, and 1 SPI interface. Some PINs have various functions, A1/D1 to A10/D10 Pins have PWM functions and Pin A0/D0 has a function of DAC which means you can get true analog signals not PWM signals when you define it as an analog pin, that’s why 14 GPIO PINs can realize more I/O PINs and interfaces. Moreover, Seeeduino XIAO supports the USB Type-C interface which can supply power and download code. There are power pads at the back of the XIAO which support battery and make it designed for wearable devices to become realistic. Except for the power LED, we add a user LED on board for your better coding experience. Usually a Dev. Board as small as this size will use the chip’s inner crystal oscillator for time fixing, in order to make the clock more accurate, Seeeduino XIAO layouts an extra 32.768KHz to make the clock more stable.

Seeeduino XIAO is perfectly compatible with Arduino IDE, you can easily develop some small projects with the help of the large and comprehensive Arduino library. So get one and you will soon love it!

    Install the driver¶

Installing drivers for the Seeeduino with window7¶

*Plug in your board and wait for Windows to begin its driver installation process. After a few moments, the process will fail.* Open the Device Manager by right clicking “My computer” and selecting control panel.* Look under Ports (COM & LPT). You should see an open port named 'USB Serial Port' Right click on the 'USB Serial Port' and choose the 'Update Driver Software' option.
    * Next, choose the 'Browse my computer for Driver software' option.
    * Finally, select the driver file named 'FTDI USB Drivers', located in the 'Drivers' folder of the Arduino Software download.

Note: the FTDI USB Drivers are from Arduino. But when you install drivers for other Controllers, such as Xadow Main Board, Seeeduino Clio, Seeeduino Lite,

you need to download corresponding driver file and save it. And select the driver file you have downloaded.

    * The below dialog boxes automatically appears if you have installed driver successfully.
    * You can check that the drivers have been installed by opening the Windows Device Manager. Look for a 'USB Serial Port' in the Ports section.
    * You can also see the serial port in Arduino environment.

Installing drivers for the Seeeduino with window8¶

You should save these files which you are editing before installing driver with window8,because there will several power off during operating.

    * Press “Windows Key” +”R”* Enter shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00* Click the 'OK' button.* System will restart to a 'Choose an option' screen* Select 'Troubleshoot' from 'Choose an option' screen* Select 'Advanced options' from 'Troubleshoot' screen* Select 'Windows Startup Settings' from 'Advanced options' screen* Click 'Restart' button* System will restart to 'Advanced Boot Options' screen* Select 'Disable Driver Signature Enforcement'* Once the system starts, you can install the Arduino drivers as same as Windows
